These leather slippers are soft without any formal structure. They make the perfect house slipper. They mold to your feet and are warm on the inside with a very slight wool felting. They take up literally NO room in your bag so they can be tucked away anywhere.
I fell in love with the softness, simplicity, elegance and comfort of these travel slippers. Sourced and designed by the Dutch duo Tara Strategier and Maarten ten Böhmer. Use them in the car, the airplane, the house or wherever your travels take you.
The leather is soft and will stretch. If you are going to wear them mostly barefoot, and you are between sizes, you might size down. If you want to wear them with socks, then order your normal size. (see sizing tab for more information)
Natural Leather and Wool. Made in Turkey. Indoor Use Only.
Women's only whole sizes:
size 36 - fits US size 5.5-6 size 37 - fits US size 6.5-7 size 38 - fits US size 7.5-8 size 39 - fits US size 8.5-9 size 40 - fits US size 9.5-10 size 41 - fits US size 10-10.5
Gale's notes on sizing: “I am a true 9.5. but my feet are skinny. When I wear the 40 its slips off my feet. When I wear the 39 its fits really snug, its not uncomfortable but it is definitely snug in the toes. So depending on how comfortable you feel you would like it to fit, take my fit for what its worth."
You can clean the leather house slippers with a damp cloth and use shoe polish if necessary.
Ottomania Design Team
Tara Strategier's passion was kindled during her first visit to Turkey in 1986 when she was 14 years old. In the following years, her passion for design, Ottoman architecture and lifestyle, kept growing. Fortunately, her parents shared her fascination so that a trip to Turkey became an annual family event. Although tourism was still rather new to Turkey at that time, Tara and her parents sought relatively unknown regions untouched by tourism.
After many years, Tara did a course in Turkish in Istanbul, and during her studies of museology, she participated in as many projects related to her passion for Turkey and the Near East as possible. Taking beautiful things home from Turkey was something that Tara had already started doing as a child: wrapping paper, mouth-blown teacups, fabrics, etc.
Together with her first partner, and now husband, Maarten ten Böhmer, a true entrepreneur, the first trip to Turkey was rather exciting: would he be able to understand this passion? Happily, he too was fascinated, and many travels to Turkey and neighboring countries like Syria and Lebanon were to follow.
